S1 Episode 6 - Ajit Samra | Coordinator at HBO

Ajit Samra is a Coordinator at HBO who works to ensure that over 51% of WarnerMedia's episodes/content are directed by Women and People of Color. He also assists with the management of HBO Access Writer and Directors Program. Originally from Baltimore, MD, Ajit graduated with a B.S degree in Film Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.

During his time in university, Ajit had the opportunity to intern at BET, FX, HBO, and Entertainment Consortium Collaborative Outreach. Shortly after graduation, he relocated to Los Angeles to continue to tell stories. On this episode, we talked about how he networked his way into HBO, his experience as a Punjabi-American who deterred from the typical career path set for many first generation children, navigating creative fields as a person of color, and his experience moving to Los Angeles.

As a Punjabi-American, Ajit strives to discover unique stories and refine his taste, whether that means championing others stories or making his own. In December 2020, Ajit launched a Think Tank for South Asians in Hollywood called "Ancient Haveli Entertainment." This project strives to broadcast South Asian talent and their stories.
